Margarett Sargent was a talented painter back in the golden age of the 20-30s, when art was transitioning from classic traditional to modern. A Boston-born socialite, she was also a distant cousin of famous painter John Singer Sargent, whose work she loathed. She lived a fascinating, but somewhat tragic and selfish life - as many wealthy, artistic, and creative types did at the time. Talented, but tainted by alcohol and depression, she wasn't nearly as productive or famous as she probably could have been. Definitely an interesting read about an interesting time and a complicated woman.
