Solutions are offered to the poverty inherent in indigenous cultures, developing nations, and inner city populations, which have become disempowered by long-term overreliance on mainstream political, social, and economic programs developed for their benefit. These welfare systems easily divest recipients of the resources and mind-sets necessary to become self-sufficient. Solutions range from instituting policy reform and enhancing cultural development to reframing dependency mind-sets. The outcome is an enhanced ability to partner with mainstream initiatives and help create wealth and opportunity.

A must read for everyone, a lot of good common sense, something we seem to be losing. It's time to take our lives back by bringing back the values and traditions our anscestors used to survive together in harmony not against nature and each other. Humans greatest joy comes from helping others not from constant conquest, domination and greed.

I liked it , Haven't finished reading it yet however it confirms a lot of my views of the problem and the sooner the govt. goes after the chiefs to be better role modules; the sooner we can correct the problem. If this doesn't change the country. is going to be in real trouble and may not be able to correct it. No govt has the balls to challenge the chiefs so they continue with their hand out for more money and they are slowly destroying the race of people

This book is exactly what I had hoped it would be. It provides solid historical facts, straightforward information about the present, and feasible ideas to apply towards the future. It is very insightful about Native American/Canadian Aboriginal circumstances, but the concepts could be applied to many disenfranchised groups around the world.
