In this eye-opening volume, world-famous astrologer and therapist Donna Cunningham unravels the often bewildering effects of lunar influence: a person’s potential for intimacy, sense of security, family ties, susceptibility to indulgence in food or drink, career ambition, as well as how men and women respond differently to the same lunar promptings in love and life. i really was expecting something else but the information is good. I was hoping there would a lot more about each moon sign rather than general explanations of what moon sign is and how it affects us and even nature. But good for the price and as a quick reference. It offers time tables to calculate your moon sign which i found way confusing, also they only show eastern time so you have to convert accordingly.

I've been looking to expand my understanding of astrology. It's often described through a "solar" perspective in many books. This book does an excellent job of describing the emotional sensitivities and challenges presented to one during their life time as they relate to the various influences of the moon, at birth, and beyond. This book is a great read for someone trying to understand astrology on a more comprehensive level beyond simple solar sign descriptions and forecasts.

This is a great book on the astrological Moon and one of the most thorough ones I have read so far. The Moon in astrology dominates your emotions, instincts, intuition, your private needs and automatic emotional responses. It is therefore one of the most important aspects in the birth chart, that alters how the sun sign is felt and expressed.

In this book Cunningham first explains in detail what the moon represents astrologically and how it affects us. Then, the book is divided in 3 parts:

For the First Part, one doesn't need to know their Moon sign. Here, the author guides you through the process of following the Moon through its monthly path around the zodiac, as well as its yearly path of the New and Full Moons. By understanding and using the Moon's monthly and yearly path, (what Cunningham calls "Emotional Weather"), one can observe its daily changes and monthly cycles, and understand how it affects them.

In the Second Part, she interprets the twelve Moon signs in the birth chart, as well as the lunar phase at your birth. Long appendices and tables are included where you can find out what your Moon sign is, or what phase the Moon was at your birth. There is also a general and very helpful chapter here on how each rising sign and each house modify the birth moon, but she doesn't get in detail on specific moon-rising sign combinations, or moon-house combinations.

Finally, the Third Part deals with how men and women in each moon sign react in relationships. She also provides general guidelines on the compatibility of different moon placements, based on Jung's research. My favorite chapter here is one that talks about "lunar burnout" (which is what happens to you when you ignore your needs as expressed by the condition of your moon) and how you can best nurture yourself according to your moon sign.

Just to make it clear, this book does not cover specific sun sign - moon sign combinations, specific rising sign - moon sign combinations or interpretations for house placements for each of the moon signs. If you want something like that, I would recommend Charles Harvey's "Sun Sign-Moon Sign" for sun-moon combinations, but I haven't read any good books on ascendant-moon combinations.

And...I can't help but nag that this book is only available in mass market paperback, which means you really aren't getting a good quality publication. But the content is so good I couldn't bring myself to take out any stars over this. This really is a great book on the Moon, informative and very, very thorough. Donna Cunningham's writing style is not heavy, not boring and really fun to read.

First I want to say that I purchased the kindle version initially, but it's not ideal because you will want to flip around in this book and that's not easy to do with a kindle. So I bought a cheap used hard copy. This book is spooky! For me it was dead-on, and also for all the friends I read for. The moon sign governs the relationship with mother. Issues with mom? Read this and find out why. Very well written and fascinating.

I read Moon signs in 1990s, was deeply impressed by her psycho-astro-psychology of family dynamics, how we get along with mother, father & siblings with Luna having major influence on our sensitivity to self, health & others feelings in family. So its way deeper than pop Lunar astrology, but ignoring what your like compared to people we don't know or maybe mating with.
Its born of her counseling experience observing planetsigns. Similar to Barbara Clow's work on 'Chiron' asteroid influences & in "The Liquid Light of Sex" midlife influences of outer planets. Gladly 'Moon Signs' is family friendly astrology from & for women & sensitive observers of human nature, feminine intuition & parent child dynamics. Its any encyclopedia of family & emotional relationships, potentials, problems & solutions so deep, you may read it again after seeing how accurate she describes how we feel within family emotions, fears, love, conflicts, etc. It ignores 'Lunaception' & other lunar influences on our health, but still is deep & inspiring if you care about family dynamics. While I enjoy Donna Cunnigham immensely, I felt her other book on the moon was more interesting. She is amusing and insightful but this is one of her weaker attempts Seems like something that she may have been obligated to produce according to a contact with her publishing company.

Useful book for beginners in astrology. Very and small – can take it anywhere. The pages came bent, but other that, it is all good.
At first, I wanted more depth about MOTHER, which the moon represents, and of course the emotions. But overall, I was happy with the descriptions of NATAL MOON in any particular signs. Knowing personally that the MOON is who we were ( i.e. the SUN sign), or what we learned or purpose of last life, therefore, already a hugh portion of our make-up, her descriptions of the NATAL MOON is right on, in my opinion. For example: read Scorpio; not dark at all, just what they carry around with themselves all the time; no wonder they are so interesting and intense. Get it, read it. Iris
