I was given this book during Cursillo (a Cristian spiritual retreat). This is the absolute best daily devotional book I've ever read. I've done lots of these over the decades, and it seems so often that I find pages that just don't touch me. Eventually, I just stop using them. But PIOUS BOB is full of down-to-earth, normal, daily devotions. I have never marked pages and pages like I have with this book. After I read several pages around the "proper" date, I often pick another month and just enjoy myself. Robert Pine isn't a minister, he is just a normal businessman who had an extraordinary healing when he had a brain tumor, and decided to share his joy and gratitude to God with others. I find myself so uplifted every time I read this book.

He has a quote from the Bible, then he talks about that passage as it effects him. Then he ends with this wonderful, heartfelt prayer:
"Father God, Thank You for Your patience and Your help for me. I'm a slow learner. AMEN."
He doesn't end each day with a prayer, but when he does include a prayer, they are simple, clear, and profound. I love the way Mr. Pine shares his thoughts and feelings about each Bible verse: what the words meant when they were written and how we can apply them to our lives today.
The book itself is printed on high quality paper and very well bound---this is a book that will survive hard usage well. Worth owning!!
