This is an old favorite. It's a great story and doesn't age. I was thrilled to find it on Kindle. One thing that has slowed down my buying is that now it is more expensive for a lot of books to buy on Kindle than paperback. Oh well, back to the used book store.

I just keep reading this over and over and never get tired of it. Sami's character is just so adorable.

Back in the 80s and 90s, I was Loveswept's Number One Fan and I absolutely loved this book and this author. I remember reading this book and purchased it again to read on my e-reader. Unfortunately, now that I am reading it again with so many years of life experience behind me, it did not live up to my fond memories.

This book had a good premise. Sami is a fun loving, kind heiress who loves everyone she meets and tries to do good deeds and help others. She gets arrested while protesting against the killing of baby seals and Daniel is the attorney who comes to her rescue. They fall in love but Sami has a hard time committing to Daniel due to issues from her childhood.

As I said, I was Loveswept's Number One fan. I had a monthly subscriptionfor the titles and I actually still have some of these books in the original paperbacks. However, they do not all stand the test of time. While this book didn't completely date itself, it was obvious that it was a little before the new millenium (clothes descriptions, lack of cell phones...).

I always thought that the Loveswept stories were the most romantic stories ever. However, I have come to expect a lot more in romance novels since the Loveswept days such as story from both point of views, heroes and heroines with some substance and a meatier story. This book was lacking.

Daniel declares himself to be in love very early in the book- long before he gets to know Sami. You never really get to know Daniel or what he is thinking. Also, Sami comes across as a little silly. Normally I love a madcap heiress but she was all fluff and no substance. She bounced from one escapade to the other with no real substance. And, while there was some minor drama in the book, it was resolved way too coincidentally and easy.

Three stars for the good premise and the fact that I really did love this book back in the day.
