Emily Lamb thought Luke Adams was attractive and powerful enough to arrange his own marriage-but when her friend Gina Harrick asked her to marry him for business reasons, Emily had her own reasons for agreeing. It was, of course, to be a temporary marriage of convenience; only Emily hadn't counted on falling in love with Luke. Nor had she suspected that the secret behind the business reasons was the fact that Luke was in love with Gina, his boss's wife.

CHAPTER ONE. LUKE ADAMS flung his pen on the desk and swiveled round in his chair to stare moodily through the window. From his sumptuously furnished office on the twenty-first floor he had a superb view of the City of London. He was not aware of it, however, for he was more concerned with what was happening to his own life than the life of the dry set out below him. Managing Director of Harrick Investment Trust

What a foul, filthy piece of filth the other woman was. She may be the poster witch for worst evil other woman EVER. EVERRRRRRRR!

The H and the evil OW have been having an affair for two years. Bad enough, yes, but it's compounded by the fact that cuckolded husband is the H’s boss and mentor and a really nice guy. The H asked her to leave her husband when they first started the affair, but she was such a precious flower she was afraid it would give her husband a heart attack and she was soooo worried about him. No, really she's in it for the money.

In a brilliant and cunning move, the witch asks her friend to marry the H in a MOC in exchange for some money. No one tells the h she is to be the beard for their sleazy, back street affair. Oh no, she finds out on her wedding day when she catches them in a clinch. That’s it for the h. She has no use for her ex friend who tries to play the sympathy card and smarm her way back in, and the h isn’t too crazy about her new husband either. Of course, this doesn’t prevent her from falling for him.

Anyhoo, the H, who apparently is the dumb blonde of the story, ends up falling for the h eventually. It takes him long enough, but he gets a conscience and feels bad about cuckolding his mentor, and realizes that the evil other witch’s reason for NOT leaving her husband was more due to inheriting his wealth than keeping her husband happy in his declining, dying years.

The H confronts the evil one, and she doesn’t take it well. She slithers in with one more lie to wreck havoc and her toy back.

This pissed me off so much. The h was great, spine of steel, charming, ethical, and kind of funny. But the hero, eye roll, and the witch from hell ruined it for me.

It's either a 1 star or a 4 star if you like major angst and want to murder major characters.

Angst with a HEA.

This book is a five plus!!! One of my favorite books. I couldn't put it down. Emily's cousin Clive had stolen money from his company to play in the stock exchange, but he lost the money. If he didn't replace the money he would go to prison. Emily had to help Clive...but how?
Luke Adams was a young hottie, he had no idea what it was to really love and be loved, until he met Emily Lamb(by the way the picture of Emily on the front cover is hideous). Luke thought he was in love with Gina his boss Charles Harrick's wife, he was having an affair with her, but he was just in lust.
When Roger the nephew of Charles found out about the affair, he went to Luke and told him, if he and Gina didn't stop the affair or Luke leave the company, Roger would tell his uncle. Even if the information would kill his uncle Charles.
Gina wanted both her husband's money and Luke's sexy body. So she decided to get a old school friend Emily who needed money ASAP could to act as Luke's temporary wife-just until Gina's rich, sick husband died. Gina figured she would have Charles' money and Luke too.
Problem-Luke found living with his wife Emily was an eye opener, to true love. He came into the gold of Emily and realized the floss of Gina.
But just a few months into their marriage of convenience Charles dies.
Gina wanted Luke to get rid of Emily and marry her ASAP.
Luke now knew what real love was and he didn't know what to do.
From the back of the book: 'Emily Lamb thought Luke Adams was attractive and powerful enough to arrange his own marriage-but when her Friend Gina Harrick asked her to marry him for business reasons, Emily had her won reasons for agreeing.
It was, of course, to be a temporary marriage of convenience; only Emily hadn't counted on falling in love with Luke. Nor had she suspected that the secret behind the business reasons wads the fact that Luke was in love with Gina, his boss's wife...'

I decided to read this because I was surprised at the reviews there was no mediocre ratings so I decided to see for myself. At first it was slow going but as it went on I got into it and liked the story itself. Yeah Luke was a slimball for doing his bosses wife but I soon kinda put it on the back burner it made the story more interesting. Emily was no better contracting to be his temporary wife so I felt they were even. The story was unique and I downloaded it free so I was happy with it reading it in one sitting on a lazy sunny afternoon.

Thhe followin doesn't give the ending away but tells you what didn't happen so don't read it if you think it may spoil the ending for you.

I really wish the ending were just a bit different. My idea would have been something like this:

Everyone gathered around in the house while the last will and testiment is read leaving all the shares of the company to Roger with Luke declared as the trustee and a note for his deceitful wife letting her know he knew all along she was unfaithful. Wouldn't that have been great? It would have made my day.

If you have nothing better to read give it a chance happy reading enjoy.

The H and the OW are detestable characters and the author succeeded in making me hate them. THE HEROINE IS AMAZING! Smart, brutally honest, gutsy...I really enjoyed her character. She was never a doormat, had amazing come-backs...just a heroine very easy to root for.

The only thing I would have liked is that the H should have grovelled some more to redeem his character.

Still satisfied with the story. I want to read more stories similar to this one...but I want total anguish and despair from the H.
