Request PDF On Apr 10, 2006, François Ganachaud and others published Interfacial Science. An introduction to the Saint Justin Martyr's Second Apology. The chapter belongs to a book which aims to serve as a guide and introduction to the reading of some important texts of the Western cultural tradition for Law students.

Ian Gentle received a P. Since then he and his group have published widely in various aspects of science related to interfaces.

Interfacial science impacts on our lives in diverse and surprising ways. Without it, we would face bubble bath without the bubbles, detergents which don't clean, cappuccinos without the froth. It has also fuelled some of the most ground-breaking and throught-provoking advances in research in recent times, from biosciences to nanotechnology. Introduction to Interfacial Science offers an engaging insight into the study of the physical and chemical properties of interfaces, how they behave, why they behave as they do, and how this behavior can be harnessed and exploited in novel and exciting ways.Interfacial Science: An Introduction is an accessible text introducing readers to the chemistry of interfaces, a subject of increasing relevance and popularity due to the emergence of nanoscience.Opening with an overview of the key principles of capilliarity and adsorption, the book goes on to explore liquid/gas, solid/gas, and liquid/liquid interfaces, before examining biological interfaces, one of the most stimulating areas of current research. With the careful explanation of essential mathematical and physical concepts, and description of real world applications of the material presented, the book helps the student to build confidence in, and see the relevance of, the topics covered.Striking a careful balance between the highly mathematical treatments of the subject by more specialist texts, and the rudimentary treatment offered by general physical chemistry texts, Interfacial Science: An Introduction offers a breadth and depth of treatment which is perfect for any advanced undergraduate course on this exciting, dynamic subject.Online Resource CenterThe Online Resource Center to accompany Interfacial Science: An Introduction features the following resources for registered adopters of the text:- Downloadable figures- Solutions manual, containing worked solutions to the exercises appearing in the textbook - Protocols for around five laboratory experiments, appearing as MS Word documents, for lecturers to modify to suit their own particular setups

Great textbook. Well written and very informative. Helped me get an A in a surface science class with a bad teacher.

It was rolled/bent when it arrived at my house. It is still not flat even it has been pressed under heavy stuff.

I am a professor of chemical engineering and have for years taught a graduate course on interfacial science. I have always used a different text, not because I loved it, but because it was about the only comprehensive book out there. This last year I asked for an examination copy of this text "Interfacial Science" and immediately liked it. As I have spent more tiem with this text, I like it all the more. It is comprehensive without trying to cover "everything". It is well organized, very readable, nice graphics which demonstrate the principles, important proofs shown but in separate sections so as not to interrupt the flow of the narrative, history of science inserts, and practical insights. It is an excellent introduction to a very broad field. It is suitable for upperclassmen as well as graduate students. I highly recommend it for anyone new to this field.
