Carol Higgins Clark's Regan Reilly mysteries are great reads. They are technically mysteries, but fun: populated with zany, likable characters in great settings, & yet also an entertaining read - even at night, alone. They're breezy, not scary. For a wimp like me, that's perfect. This entry in the series is no exception. previous 1 2 3 4 next .

This is a must read in the Regan Reilly series. The setting Hawaii was great, all with all the sub plots. The ending was interesting with certain characters getting their just deserts. I would recommend this book to everyone whom likes the Regan Reilly series.
A passably entertaining book. She's not her mom for sure but okay. Some redundancy in words and phrasing. The author (somewhat like Janet Evanovich) seems to get caught up in enjoying her own trying-to-be-cleverness, which in both cases really puts me off and falls flat. This is more at the beginning of the book. And, I rather dislike her many snide, unspoken thoughts. Like I said, she's not her mom or that caliber of writer.
I enjoy reading Carol's mysteries simply for the fact that it is a nice easy read, nothing too heavy and it still keeps me on the edge of my seat. I also love the Regan Reilly series and this book was no exception. The only thing that bothered me a little and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was it had a few too many characters to keep up with, I found myself losing track of their storyline sometimes. I do wish more time was given to the last few characters storyline just to close it up completely because I still had lingering questions when it was finished but all in all it was a good read and I’m looking forward to reading my next CHC book.
It's a fast-moving and lively mystery story. I had to keep reading it. It made me laugh quite a few times. The characters were logical, and I appreciate that.

I'm a Jackie Collins fan, and I thought of her while reading this, because the writing style and chapter breakdown was strikingly similar to a Jackie Collins book. There were different character groups at the beginning of the story, and they all became associated later in the book; they all came together at the end of the book for a memorable blast and spectacular chain of events!
I couldn't stop reading! Had me from the beginning! Thought I had figured out the perp, but was wrong. Couldn't believe the ending! Great reading!
The series is one of my favorites for mindless vacation reads. They are quick and entertaining, albeit predictable, and I enjoy the quirky character development.
I love this author, her books are fun to read. The stories are evolved enough to keep your interest yet not predictable. I like how she manages to link it all together before you know it. It is fast read and offers hours of entertainment.
Carol Higgins Clark has come up with another excellent Regan Reilly mystery, replete with nice young people in jeopardy and some very eccentric characters. I did miss her mother and father and her fiance, Jack (no relation) Reilly. It's a fun and fast read, especially enjoyable on a long car or plane trip.

The ending is a good one for all concerned, villains excluded. It's exactly what one wants and expects from Carol Higgins Clark.

That said, I must remark that, as a faithful viewer of the CSI and Law & Order franchises, I was appalled by the sloppiness of the police work. The crime should have been solved before Regan landed in Hawaii. A valuable piece of evidence, the lei, was returned to the museum instead of taken by the police to be processed. The victim's apartment was NOT sealed and probably hadn't even been searched. Regan found a valuable clue in plain sight and walked out with it with no trouble. Dorinda's cousin was free to dispose of the contents as he chose. This is so bad it's pathetic. Gil Grissom would be holding his head in sheer horror, and Detectives Fontana & Green would be in shock. Because of this gaping hole in the plot, I am subtracting a star.
