I am had a hard time getting into this book, but it seems to be picking up. The delivery was quite good, and the book itself is in very good condition. Thank you very much indeed.

In the The Stonhenge Legacy Sam Christer builds an exiciting story around the stone structure, which until today has not quite revealed all its secrets. Looking forward to similar books by Sam Christer.

Every once in a while, I crave a good thriller --- one with a relentless pace and suspense that keeps me constantly turning pages. When I finish, I want to feel windswept and out of breath from trying to keep up. For this, I'm willing to suspend all disbelief and go with it. If you can to do just that, Sam Christer spins an entertaining tale.

Nathaniel Chase is a famed treasure hunter and archaeologist, though he's more famous for treasure hunting than for his archaeological advances. His sudden passing is a shock to his son, Gideon, who has not spoken to him in years. Distraught and confused over the loss of a father he hardly knew --- Nathaniel withdrew from Gideon's life after his wife's death --- Gideon doesn't know what to do with the news of his father's suicide. With nowhere else to go until he can make funeral arrangements, he heads to his father's house and unexpectedly interrupts a break-in. Injured but not seriously hurt, he returns wondering why anyone would be interested in this particular house. His father was a rich, well-known person, but his treasures weren't kept there. To Gideon, it's more than the simple smash-and-grab the local police seem to think it is. Curious, he starts looking around and finds a hidden room full of his father's journals written in a code only he understands.

What Gideon uncovers in the journals is a record of a secret society devoted to protecting the gods of Stonehenge. Unsure of what he's found, Gideon, an archaeologist in his own right, decides to investigate and possibly infiltrate the cult. Unfortunately for him, several plans are already in motion and his timing couldn't be worse.

In thrillers of this nature, death is usually in abundance and time is always lacking. However, the addition of Stonehenge is a nice touch and good backdrop for a story that includes a kidnapping of a famous American, the death of a British Lord's son, and the disappearance of several others in a small, English country town. Yes, there are a few moments along the way when you go "huh?", but overall the plot surrounding the cult is strong enough to pull you and the story through. Of course, you have to be willing to go along with conspiracy theories, police procedures, kidnappings and cult behavior. Once you get there, Christer manages a pace that has you wondering when he's going to drop the ball. But he never does. He keeps the tension going until the end. I wasn't completely sold on the ending, but things are satisfactorily wrapped up even if it might give you pause to wonder where it came from.

THE STONEHENGE LEGACY is one of those books that you want with you when you need a distraction, and I mean that in a positive way. Christer does a good job of pulling you in and keeping you there with just enough intrigue, suspense and mystery to hold you there until the end.

X-MEN
I'm a patriotic gal, so this title grabbed my attention right away. The Stonehenge Legacy is a fascinating thriller about a mysterious prehistoric monument and one of the most famous sites in the world. The setting for this novel is in my home county of Wiltshire, which was an added bonus for me. I've walked right up to the stones and touched them (when it used to be allowed). I got drawn into this book from the start and enjoyed the continual build of suspense, the conspiracy theories, and the secrets of the cult as the author revealed them. I did find the ending a little strange, but it is a work of fiction and, overall, I really enjoyed this novel.

The previous reviewers summed up the inane nature of this book rather well. I liked the cover and the name as well, but those were about the best parts of this book. A confusing book to say the least.
(**Spoiler**)
In addition to what the other reviewers noted, the book seems to have a single plot line which then breaks off into what seems like two plot lines (archaeologist son and then the female police detective with her typical inept policeman). They diverge somewhere in the middle of the book and then the author ham-handedly wraps them all together in the final page and a half.

A disappointing book to say the least.

I'm not sure how the author actually researched the occult lore in this book. Perhaps what he gleaned from National Enquirer? After the first few chapters I had enough. He has put together snips and pieces practices from divergent beliefs and has little or no idea what he's actually talking about.
The first half of the book was OK. Murder, conspiracy, human sacrifice, kidnapping, an archaeologist hero and Stonehenge should make it an interesting read. However things went downhill from there.

**** This might contain minor spoilers.
An archaeologist who contaminates a major archaeological site by spreading his fathers ashes on it, a member of the conspiracy that you can spot a mile away, Stonehenge's "perfect alignment" when the stones was lying in a large pile before it was restored. Then it got really bad, the magic waters of Stonehenge which could cure fatal diseases and give long life, the conspiracy/religion that was 5000 years old and was so widespread that I wondered why it wasn't the largest religion in southern Englandand and how did they manage to keep it a secret, and the connection between Stonehenge II and the Egyptian pyramids. I also don't understand why the interesting piece of land had the owner it had. The list goes on. However, the idea of using vultures was interesting and I wonder if what they found could be detected in a real situation.

My ability to suspend disbelief could not handle this book, and I'm going to avoid the author in the future. 1 1/2 stars.
