McBain E. d McBain Three Blind Mice This is for Lou and Alice Weiss 1 You woke up every morning on sodden sheets, the air heavy with moisture, the bloodred line of the thermometer already standing at seventy-five degrees, and you knew the temperature would climb high into the nineties before the day was done. In August, the heat was relentless. It rained every afternoon, whether for five minutes or an hour.

Three Blind Mice book. Recommends it for: great writing of Ed McBain. Not, in my estimation as good as some of its preceding Matthew Hope adventures, but pretty good mystery. And no, as usual, I didn't get the whodunit until the end when it was revealed. So what else is new? One reason I love mysteries is because I like to solve them before the end which, of course, I never do.

Ed McBain is a good writer, fun to read. Have been reading Ed McBain for years. The 87th Precinct series. Kind of similar and very enjoyable. But this one is too easy, transparent plot, too many page fillers copied from previous novels, gratuitous sex, etc. A bit like Bubble Gum. I keep hoping for more 87th Precinct stories.
Try it, you will like it. Published by Thriftbooks. com User, 16 years ago. This is the first McBain book I have ever bothered to read even though I have been aware of McBain for years. I really enjoyed this novel and look forward to reading the other 12 Matthew Hope novels.
When three Vietnamese immigrants are found murdered and savagely mutilated in Calusa, Florida, police finger wealthy landowner Stephen Leeds as the prime suspect. From his jail cell, Leeds insists that, while they may have gotten what they deserved, he didn't dispense the vigilante justice. That's enough for attorney Matthew Hope to take on the case
