I am no newbie to computers and have 25 years experience. However, those years were with DOS and later with Windows.
When I purchased a MacBook Pro I was like a fish half-way out of water.

The book introduces information in a logical progression of learning. It resolved most elementary issues and
a few larger ones. Like many manual-type books, it is sometimes difficult to look up the answer to a specific question.

I keep in in a ready-access library for use as necessary and do recommend its purchase to others like myself.

I purchased a 13" Mac Pro because I needed more than just a working laptop. Not disappointed, however, while I picked it up pretty quickly I Knew I was missing out on the finer features and needed help. Looked at the "Dummy" series but was not convinced that I would get the help that I needed. Then after more searching I came across the "Genius" series which seemed more appropriate. I found the book easy to follow, very informative for a Mac newby, and I am now getting into the heart of my MacBook Pro with confidence and enjoying the experience. Recommended for all new to Mac!

We just recently bought our MacBook Pro and love it. This Genius book really fills in the knowledge gaps since the documentation that comes with the laptop is cute but not very substantial. Laid out logically in easy-to-read chapters, this book is a good learning and reference book. Good images and readable language make this a good buy--well worth the price.

Totally out of date. Useless! I am surprised that Amazon offers a product like this. With technology changing so rapidly what use would there be for dated information?

I bought this book in the hopes that it would go into "genius" level details pertaining specifically to a MacBook Pro and what I got was a well-written overview of OS X. Not a whole lot of detail beyond the obvious...I mean, wouldn't you figure that somebody buying a "MacBook PRO" is already seasoned Mac user...that being said, only about 5-10% of this book is usable. The rest is just review of the stuff I do everyday anyway.

Don't get me wrong, the book is presented well and easy to read, I just wish that there was more about being a mobile user and how the ExpressCard slot works, etc... It just needed more depth.

It really should have been title "MacBook Pro Portable Concierge" instead of "MacBook Pro Portable Genius"
