The book was 3:16: THE NUMBERS OF HOPE. I don’t normally read religious books. Much better than I expected. This is the first Max Lucado book I have read

The book was 3:16: THE NUMBERS OF HOPE. This is the first Max Lucado book I have read. Although I am a Christian, I tend to shy away from books that for whatever reason, I perceive to be the equivalent of "pop psychology" of the Christian world- . those with the glossy covers that are highly marketed, authors that have a gazillion titles that merely appear to be the same book with a different name, etc. Whether that is an accurate perception or not, I've lumped Lucado in that category. I was pleasantly Much better than I expected.

Max Lucado (born January 11, 1955) is a best-selling Christian author and pastor at Oak Hills Church (formerly the Oak Hills Church of Christ) in San Antonio, Texas. php?title Max Lucado&oldid 929291679".

When my mom was reading the book she came upon a word she didn't recognize. The sentence went as followed " Jesus makes no mention of Nicodemus's VIP status, good intentions, or academic credentials, not because they don't exist,. The sentence went as followed " Jesus makes no mention of Nicodemus's VIP status, good intentions, or academic credentials, not because they don't exist, but because, in Jesus's algorithm, they don't matter. What does the word algorithm mean in this context?

John 3:16 NIV. The hero of heaven is God. Angels don’t worship mansions or glittering avenues. Who are we to challenge God’s? Only he knows the full story, the number of invitations the stubborn-hearted have refused and the slander they’ve spewed

John 3:16 NIV. Neither gates nor jewels prompt the hosts to sing. His majesty stirs the pen of heaven’s poets and the awe of her citizens. They enjoy an eternity-long answer to David’s prayer: One thing I ask of the LORD. Who are we to challenge God’s? Only he knows the full story, the number of invitations the stubborn-hearted have refused and the slander they’ve spewed. Accuse God of unfairness? He has wrapped caution tape on hell’s porch and posted a million and one red flags outside the entrance.

Max Lucado has authored over 50 book with sales exceeding an incredible 50 million copies in print. His books are regularly on the New York Times list of bestsellers and continually dominate the Christian charts (where he has had up to eleven books present at one time). 3:16 is as close as we could expect for a sure-thing bestseller. In 3:16 Lucado unpacks ( exposits would probably not be quite the right word) what he calls the hope diamond of the Bible, the verse that is known and cherished by more believers than any other: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Best-selling author Max Lucado leads readers through a word-by-word study of John 3:16, the passage that he calls the "Hope Diamond" of Scripture.

A twenty-six word parade of hope: beginning with God, ending with life, and urging us to do the same. Brief enough to write on a napkin or memorize in a moment, yet solid enough to weather two thousand years of storms and questions. If you know nothing of the Bible, start here. If you know everything in the Bible, return here. We all need the reminder.

I have purchased several Max Lucado books and children's videos in the past few years and I am never disappointed in my purchases. This is an all inspiring look into one of the most quoted scriptures in the Bible. I loved the way Max Lucado wrote this book and brought this scripture to life in a new way for me. Since my first purchase I have since ordered 25 more copies. These will make wonderful gifts or testimonial hand outs. The cost is very reasonable because the Word of God is priceless.

Jesus died on the cross as payment for the sins of mankind. The act of martyrdom is not uncommon, but Jesus was. The world is abundant with evidence that Jesus wasn't just another martyr - he moved people beyond this world. He got people to BELIEVE. That is a fantastic contribution to the human race. Without hope, what do we have to look forward to. With hope, beyond material desires, we realize we are more than human. Even famed astrophysicist Neil deGrass Tyson shares an appreciation for God in the statement that while others see humans as being only a small particle of dust in vast universe, the real truth is that throughout the entire universe, the fundamental make-up (organic matter) of what we are at the subatomic level, is at ONE with the ENTIRE universe. Dr. Dyer said it another way, that if you believe you originated from a Creator such as God, then you are part-God. Rather than humans that have spiritual experiences, think of yourself as a spirit having human experiences. If you want more inspiration, watch the heroic story of "Life According to Sam" - a boy with Progeria who viewed his time on Earth as a complete blessing and who lived with more positivity than any of us could imagine if we were in his circumstances. The LOVE that he felt and that he SHARED is DIVINE. And that is all Jesus really cared for us to know - in my opinion. And so Max Lucado basically breaks down the entire premise of the Christian faith by examining each word in the passage of John 3:16.

In September 2012 my wife and I formed a new small group at our church for young married couples to come chill, get to know each other and study the Bible.

We must have looked at a dozen small group books before finding 3:16. I've found that it is pretty easy to find a self-help book and fairly difficult to find a book that is grounded in scripture, about Jesus and not self-help and is easy, fun and challenging to read.

3:16 is all of those things. It has been a wonderful book to go through with our group of five couples, though you could easily study this with singles, dating, married, youth, etc. It's a relief that the book stays grounded in passages of scripture but remains broad enough that it will apply to

So, the bottom line is that 3:16 is, at its core, a study of the person of Christ. How is he? What does the Bible say he did and, perhaps more importantly, do you believe that? What are you wrestling with? What does faith look like?

We're currently on Chapter 9 and I don't have any significant negatives to speak of yet. In my opinion, once in a while there is a sentence or illustration that is poorly written, but other than that it's a great, easy read. He's very clear in explaining what he's getting at and lets the text do the talking.

4 stars!

I am a Christian, have been for 40 years, and found this short treatise to be spot-on. It is great as a refresher on the basics, and Max Lucado's illustrations provide fresh insight. This book is also good for anyone who knows little or nothing about Christianity and wants a brief description. It goes into enough depth to be complete without making the reader feel like they stepped straight into grad school.

This book and Give it All to Him were expecially purchased for men in a state prison facility. It broadens their understanding of the Word of God and truly how mighty and loving our Heavenly Father is to us. Also it helps those know Jesus, and what He gave up for mankind, and how much He too, loves all of us. It shows you may lay down your life for Him, only to be blest over and over now and for eternity. What really is important in life, what we should care about now and how vital it is we know where we are with Jesus. John 3:16 is truly a gift from both Jehovah God and his precious Son, Christ Jesus, and every prison should have a copy!

I always enjoy Mr. Lucas books. They are easy to read and comprehend. The addition of personal stories make it all the interesting.
