With the growing popularity and value of both the 111 and 113 Mercedes, there has been a serious need for a detailed book (or books) for owners, restorers and aspiring owners. Generally, the "original" series of books are pretty good and for some cars, the only decent book on the subject. The book "Original SL" was the first in the series on Mercedes and except for the 113 on the cover with badly matched paint, was pretty good and is still a good reference for the 190SL and 300SL as well. So, when "Coupes and Cabriolets" came out I was hopeful that it would be at least as good. It isn't. Simple things like color codes (which are the same as the 113) are ignored. I was also hopeful that the book would include chassis number information to help identify if the car is a genuine cabriolet or even when the first low grille models were built. To fill-out the book, there is info on the V-8 sedans, like the 450SEL. Clearly they had the room for this info and some of it could have been lifted from "Original SL" Still, it is (at this point) the only book on the subject with anything resembling detailed information and this is borne out by the price of the book on the used market.

The "Original" series of books tend to be well-illustrated and replete with the kind of minute detail that lovers of the given vehicles described enjoy poring over. This volume by Tim Slade is on a par with the rest, with the exception of a few typos. If you love these cars, or own one, or just aspire to, it is quite a good literary drive. There are a few typos, and this particular volume does not have the option and color charts that the similar volume on 113 Mercedes does have, but overall it is well done. As a driver, I am familiar with all of the mentioned vehicles and I think Mr. Slade has done justice to a group of automobiles well worth writing about.

Beautifull photos and some good informations on the text (few are scoop and you can find the same information on the web, others are incomplete or imprecise) but very very very expensive for what it is. I guess the owners of such a book try to make money by selling it at creasy price (the original price was 34,95 USD or 24,99 GBP or 52,95CAN !!!! writen on the cover). Hopefully, they find creasy personn, as I am, to pay for that.

Excellent! Excellent! book. If you have a 1960-1972 M benz coupe or convertible or just want to read on them then this is the book to buy. A lot of photos and information. I bought this book a few months ago. Then I recently bought a restored 280se cabriolet for Christmas :) I used the book a lot as reference when I purchased my convertible

This is an excellent book especially for the person who is doing restoration work. The photographs and detail are outstanding and inspirational. The explanations given for each model and each section of that car are very informative and very detail oriented. This helps tremendously in restoration work. "But".......what happened to the 250C/280C?? Vin#, 114.023, 114.073. I have noticed that other Authors of Mercedes Benz books also seem to forget this version. This is an error that needs to be corrected in reprints or future publications. All in all a highly informative and recommended book.

This book describes some of the nicest coupes and cabriolets made by Mercedes-Benz. Well written and plenty of pictures of exceptionally well restored cars.
This is by far the best recent book on these cars; an excellent, informational and handsome volume. Highly reccomended.
