This book is a bit dated - it was published in 1978, but the information is invaluable. Lift trucks electronics have probably changed a great deal since when this book was published, but the information concerning hydraulics, fuel systems (Gas, diesel and LP) is still of great value as LP forklifts (like mine) still have hydraulic systems , hoses , spark plugs gears, bearings , hoses etc that haven't fundamentally changed in the last 20 years. The basic hydraulic systems of forklifts probably haven't changed since they were invented! The book covers -

Hydraulic repair
Gasoline Fuel systems
LPG fuel systems
Diesel fuel systems
Electrical systems - ignition, battery, starting and charging systems, dc and ac regulation

Engine overhaul
and Running gear

The gas, lpg and diesel fuel systems chapters cover carbs, fuel pumps, tanks, governors, troubleshooting and repair.
The hydraulic sections cover basic hydraulics, flow and relief valve control, directional control valves , cylinders, hoses and system troubleshooting
The running gear section covers steering axle, wheel bearings, kingpins and bushings, tie rods, transmissions, clutches and brake systems.

I have an older LPG forklift and this book appears to be a valuable reference to help me maintain my machine.

This book could use an update, and I hope that someone writes one sooner or later, but until then, this book will be well used. I would have rated the book a 5 if it was a little less dated.
