Absolutely excellent guide to Boston. We spend five days there and with this guide (as well as cross checking with TripAdvisor), couldn't be happier with our lodging, meals, and sightseeing. I have come to trust these guides and will always buy Lonely Planet if it's available for the location we are going to.

It is dense and requires some studying ahead of time to get the most out of it, but well worth the time invested. It gives information on itineraries based on the number of days you have, places to stay (with pros and cons of the area as well as the individual lodgings), suggested places to eat with the number one suggestion for the area highlighted. Just as an example, we followed the suggestion of the best place to eat in Little Italy and couldn't have been more pleased. There are so many restaurants there that it can be overwhelming, but we knew right where we wanted to go and made reservations ahead of time. The guide was spot on and it was a tiny place without much signage outside. We would have totally missed this little gem without the Lonely Planet guide.

An incredible resource that almost guarantees a successful trip.

Haven't been to Boston in 15 years so I am pleased with this up-to-date guide with a "What's New" page, ample maps and well organized, informative sections on major neighborhoods. General information and history is clear and concise. Good size to carry while touring. Well done!

So far, so good. For someone who is used to lonely planet books, this one is amazing.

Disclaimer: is well know that some "not so good" restaurants and hotels pay to appear in lonely planet books, so keep your focus in the touristic and historic essentials and complement that with an online resesarch.

This book was very helpful while planning our trip, I used it a lot which is why I gave it 4 stars. It had just the right amount of history without getting boring, but we didn't use it much once we actually arrived in Boston. I was disappointed in several of the restaurant recommendations; we did better searching online.

Obviously everyone is looking for different things, but I felt like this book was too much on where to eat/stay (which I can just get from tripadvisor) and not enough on history and what to see and do.

very good. can't wait til our vacation.

Very helpful with great suggestions and explanations. We were only in Boston for a long weekend and just scratched the surface of visiting the sites. The pull out map was helpful too.
I'm happy with this purchase
